Alabama DT Arrested

Defensive lineman Jarran Reed was arrested Sunday morning and charged with DUI, according to records at the Tuscaloosa County Jail. He was being held on $1,000 unsecured bond. Further details on the arrest were not immediately known.

He had a great spring and was in position to start on the DL this year. Now he is in the dog house. It is hard to understand how these guys are willing to throw everything away by making bad decisions. It is not just at Alabama and Auburn it happens everywhere.

Remember Dillion Lee is facing similar issues. He got a DUI earlier. Guys need to understand playing football is a privilege not a right.

To address pmull's thoughts.  Kids are stupid.  Be it an 18 year old, or a 21 year old, kids are stupid.  College kids do stupid things.  There are numerous DUI's given out to UA students every night of the week.  It is only a big deal to journalists when it is an athlete.

I agree personal responsibility, privilege to play, held to a higher standard, etc.; but when you get down to it they are stupid kids.  Very large stupid kids with high levels of testosterone and possibly a sense of entitlement and definitely a sense of invulnerability.

I was bulletproof, could walk through walls, and was never going to die when I was 21.

Hopefully, he will learn from his mistake and benefit from the experience.

July, and August, in Alabama is a crappy time to run stairs.  Real crappy.

No doubt he pulled a boner and no doubt in the coming days ahead he will wish many times that he would have made a different decision than what he made that night. He will learn that getting in the CNS dog house during the "dog days" of summer is not a good idea but if he is the man that some many of us think think he is, he will come out of this being a much better and smarter person/player than he was. Good luck young man, you will need it in the coming days ahead.
