I don't care what the writer thinks, I see this as a mistake.

The Washington Redskins have traded Albert Haynesworth to the Patriots. In Washington, Haynesworth was a bum. A malcontent, a horrible teammate and a stone, cold jackass. In New England, he'll turn into the best defensive lineman in football

And Reggie to Miami.
Looks like we were posting simultaneously.

Lots of quick NFL business now that the contracts can be negotiated.  Keep the news coming and thanks, MD.

What do you think of this trade? Was he trying to get out of Washington so he laid down or do you see this as a good move for NE?

I think AH is indeed a problem child and can't help himself.  NE has a pattern of dealing well with these types of players, and NE probably got him at a bargain price.  Steroid rage?

Addendum: "On October 1, 2006 in the third quarter of a game against the Cowboys, running back Julius Jones scored on a rushing play. Center Andre Gurode fell to the ground, and his helmet was removed by Haynesworth.

Haynesworth tried to stomp on Gurode's head, but missed. A second stomp opened a severe wound on Gurode's forehead, narrowly missing his right eye. The referee assessed Haynesworth with a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, to which Haynesworth protested by taking off his helmet and throwing it into the turf; Haynesworth was then assessed an additional 15-yard penalty and ejected."

I watched a Bryant Gumball hosted sports magazine type show on HBO where "experts" contended that 'roid rage was a myth. Seems to me the shrinkage problem alone would be enough to make you a little disgruntled-- no pun intended.

I can't see why anybody wants him he is nothing but a lazy bum. He just starts trouble, I wouldn't allow him to cut my grass. RTR!

I guess Pats brass and Belichick see him as another reclamation project. The man no doubt has the talent to be one of the best, but the question is whether he can get his head together to go along with the physical talent. If any team can do it, its the Pats.

Pats traded a 5th round draft pick for him. That's cheap.

 Cool

Wow! I thought they would get much more than that, something like a 2nd & 3rd round pick. The Redskins just wanted him gone.
