Report: Boise State Banned From Wearing Blue Uniforms at Home

Boise State will reportedly not be allowed to wear all blue uniforms for its conference home games, a stipulation that was agreed to when it joined the Mountain West.

NCAA coaches and players have long complained that Boise State has an unfair advantage when it wears all-blue uniforms on its signature blue turf. The main complaint, ESPN reports, is that players tend to blend in with the field, especially when viewed on videotape.

"I think they ought to get rid of that blue turf. I think it's unfair," San Diego State coach Rocky Long said earlier this spring during a conference call. " ... It takes the visiting team a quarter or two to get used to that different field."

The color of the field is something the NCAA should take a stand on, grass is naturally green.

I hate the blue field.  But, does this mean other schools can no longer wear all green uniforms on their green field?  This is only an advantage because it gets in the opponents head.  If you are standing on the field they don't blend in with the ground, unless you knocked them flat on their back and you are standing over them.

I think the color problem is that Boise used their school color as the color of the field which means that their uniforms will match the field. I think this was done to gain an advantage. Their field being an artificial turf makes it easy to match the colors.

Eastern Washington, I believe. Not really concerned about them since the only chance they will get on TV is if USCw's plane is forced to land there on the way to play UW. By the way, since I have never been to Idaho (which I still think is a funny state name) are we sure the grass up there is not naturally blue?
