TUSCALOOSA, Alabama - News flash: Alabama has a starting quarterback.


"Sure. Dont'a Hightower," defensive coordinator Kirby Smart said Sunday of the junior inside linebacker. "He's the guy."

Oh, you were thinking offense? Think again.

Offensive coordinator Jim McElwain flashed a grin on the only day of the year - barring an appearance at a BCS bowl - when any assistants on coach Nick Saban's staff meet with the news media.

"The good thing is, we will play with a quarterback this year," McElwain said. "We can go ahead and put that to rest."

Hightower is the key to this defense, he is much more than just a player to the team on and off the field.
