The reigning Class 6A Player of the Year from Cullman announced this afternoon that he has accepted a walk-on invitation from new Crimson Tide coach Avery Johnson. Schaffer, a 5-foot-11 guard, also had a walk-on invite from Bruce Pearl and Auburn, and UAB. Schaffer's lone Division I offer was from Furman. He was mainly pursued by Division II schools.

This could be a steal for CAJ and Pettway. From what I have read about him, he can light it up shooting. Pettway was a walkon at Bama and boy did he ever turn out to be a good player.

They're judging him by his size, 5'11" (maybe). This could be a steal, especially if he can hit the 3.

6A Player of the Year!!  As they say in NYC...that ain't chopped liver!  Sounds like a good catch by CAJ.

Related...If Donovan leaves FL, wonder if any guys will want to bolt out of there?

I am not sure why this guy did not get some offers. He is comparable to Justin Coleman in many ways. They are about the same size. Both are good point guards that can distribute the ball but Schaffer may be a better scorer.

He was set to walk on at the barn before CAJ lured him to Tuscaloosa.

 Cool

I love a walk-on.

They want to play and they have something to prove.

He was getting DII offers. Furman was his only DI offer. He thinks he can play in the SEC and is willing to pay his own way. You have to like that confidence attitude.
