And then there's this.......

Quote
Scott Pospichal has been a trusted confidant for blue-chip Class of 2016 prospect Marques Bolden throughout Bolden's recruiting process, there to answer questions and provide advice as Bolden has racked up scholarship offers from high-profile programs such as Duke.

Pospichal's relationship with Bolden could be an advantage for Alabama.

I like this hire. He is a well respected AAU coach who he has been coaching and developing young players for a long time. He also knows recruiting having 25 of his players signing with  DI schools and several of those players went on to the NBA. He is from Texas where there is a ton of talent. His expertise is in coaching offense.

Here is our Staff:

Avery Johnson: Head Coach:  Former NBA player and head coach.

Bob Simon - Asst Head Coach: Former assistant coach at Providence who is considered a top notch national recruiter. Over 20 years of college experience.

Scott Posichal - Assistant Coach: Over 30 years experience at the JUCO and AAU level coaching and developing young players. Good offensive coach.

Antoine Pettway - Assistant Coach: Former Tide player who is young and energetic. Relates well to the players and is a good recruiter who knows the SEC.

Lou DeNeen - Strength & Conditioning: Served one year on Anthony Grant's staff after many years at UAB, Florida International and CAL.

So now we have Coach Popsicle.  Maybe they will start selling those things at Coleman.

Seriously, this is a much improved coaching staff vs. what we had.  I was hoping for some emphasis on player development and it looks like we got that.  This staff ought to be attractive to top recruits.

I'm trying to keep my expectations in check, because I've had high hopes for Bama Basketball for many years only to be met by disappointment after disappointment.  I do like the direction things are going right now.  Honestly it reminds me a bit of when Saban arrived, and even before he coached his first game excitement was building and you could see he was getting things set up for success.

Good comparison. One thing we need to keep in mind is that Saban did not inherit the best of talent, and his first year was mediocre at best. This is what CAJ is coming into, as well. I don't think we can realistically expect him to burn it up the first year. Having said that, I still can't wait to see the product on the floor.

I agree.  I expect to see more offensive production, a team that understands how to attack the basket instead of running the clock and throwing up a late shot.  But there are pieces missing, a dominant big man and a talented point guard.  I expect better play from the point, but it takes time to develop a big.

As he told me the other day, he hopes the fans understand that there will be some bumps in the road this year but this is the beginning of something big at Bama. To me, it's a lot easier to recruit when there's the presence of a lot of hype from the fans and the players. CAJ has three solid coaches for some BIG TIME recruiting and I'm anxious to watch it develop.

No doubt there will be some LARGE bumps in the road. No reasonable person is expecting an SEC Tourney title in year 1 or 2. What I hope to see is steady progress each year until we are a force in the SEC. I always use my Four Year Rule. A coach should be showing steady improvement each year for 4 years to prove he can win & get the job done. Grant never showed much progress, with the same problems each year. Good to see you posting.
