Jonathan Cook, a rising sophomore on Alabama's football team, was out. By phone, Nick Saban informed the Daphne product he was dismissed from the team, Cook's mother told AL.com on Wednesday. Alabama announced his departure earlier Wednesday afternoon saying Cook was "no longer a member of the team."
Cook's mother, Melissa Cook, said her son "just had some issues outside of the field." She said it was not a legal matter, but declined to explain the specifics. The dismissal was "somewhat surprising," she said.
Low tolerance standard, apparently.
