Mark Barron ready to cap off stellar collegiate career at Alabama

TUSCALOOSA. Alabama -- Mark Barron's feet launch the Alabama star safety off the grass practice field toward the twilight sky.

His arms fire up as he fully extends his body. His muscles stretch like elastic bands as he reaches toward a football sailing overhead. There's no hesitation to extend as high as gravity will allow; no reaction once he lands, other than the disappointment of missing the ball on this particular drill.

Why does it matter?

Barron's effort on this play was one more piece of evidence to convince any lingering skeptics the Crimson Tide senior is 100 percent recovered from a surgically repaired pectoral muscle. He suffered the injury in November at Bryant-Denny Stadium during a 28-27 loss to Auburn.

"I feel like he has the most respect out of anybody, especially the things he's done since he's been here," said Hightower, a starting linebacker for the Tide. "The way he knows the playbook, the way we all come to him whenever we have a question about a coverage or a play. He's always there. Even when Coach Saban's not there, Coach Saban goes to Mark and talks to Mark about some things. Mark will confirm it with us. It's always good having Mark back there."

Having Barron back is huge for the DBs.  This should be a fun year to watch the D.
