Interesting. Be sure to click on potential candidates list for more info when you go to the site.

Quote
2. South Carolina

Former coach: Steve Spurrier

Potential candidates list

Bud: South Carolina paid Spurrier $1.5 million more per year than Miami paid Al Golden and $1.9 million more than Maryland paid Randy Edsall. While a coach might be able to win bigger at Miami, that gap is simply too much to overcome. But if the money is even, I'm switching.

Bill: You could obviously make a case for Miami at No. 2 because we know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you can win titles there. And the advantages of recruiting within that base are obvious. But Spurrier won just enough at South Carolina, and came just close enough to winning more (while going 33-6 from 2011-13, the Cocks lost three games by a total of seven points) to suggest that there isn't much of a ceiling. Add that to the money argument, and you end up ranking South Carolina ahead of Miami.

Maybe I'm off in the ozone, but I still think USCw should take a shot at Les Miles.

I know it would never happen at this stage in his life but I would love to see the Gator nation melt down (and probably burn down their own campus) if Spurrier were offered and accepted the Miami job...

I honestly think Lester is happy in Baton Rouge. I don't think he would take it, if offered.

@NALT - That would be funny as heck, but The Old Ball Coach is just that; old.

You have a sadistic streak, but it would be funny.

Great to see you posting, I was getting a little worried because I had not seen any posts, unless you were on another area of the forum.

After the dismissal of head coach Steve Sarkisian, the Trojans find themselves looking for their fifth coach in the post Pete Carroll Era.

So, that will be six coaches (counting Carroll) in 15 years.

BAMA was essentially in the same position prior to hiring Saban and that includes counting Price (who never actually coached a game).

All of the talking heads continually referred to BAMA as a program in disarray, a fan base of spoiled brats living in the past, a has been/never will be again program, and a dumpster fire with an endless supply of fuel.

Yet in this article and on the airwaves all you hear is USC, perennial contender, top 5 job in universe, Pete Carrroll is a god, USC is the best ever, blah, blah, blah, etc., more superlatives and accolades.

Sorry, just had to get that out of the way.

Butch Davis might be Miami's best option, baggage and all.

Now, all the experts are saying they should stay away from the Carroll coaching tree because it bears poison fruit. They could have gotten Chris Petersen but he was considered too quiet & reserved and did a "bad" interview & would not fit in. I wonder if Joab Thomas was on the interview panel?

I think Lester stays put.  And Florida plays LSU every year anyway.

I think you're right. He can coach, but Miami would have to put a tight leash on him. Butch thinks compliance is something better left to other people.

"Miami would have to put a tight leash contract clause on him..."
