SEC tournament notes: Tide's Hines pokes fun at ESPN bracketologist

'ATLANTA - A reporter in Alabama's locker room after the game said he thought he heard Joe Lunardi's name mentioned as players came off the court. That's ESPN's bracketologist.

How about it, Chris Hines?

"It was like an interview with Bart Scott," Alabama's senior forward said, referring to the New York Jets linebacker whose postgame remarks after a January playoff game made him a YouTube sensation.

"'Thanks for having my back, Joe Lunardi.' 'Thanks for having my back, ESPN," Hines said, laughting.

"You know? The more teams we beat, the further we seemed to go down. I'm thinking, 'Joe, when does that happen?'"'

Alabama's SEC focus should lock down NCAA bid after gut-check comeback to beat Georgia

"ATLANTA

Mike Slive said it as we chatted courtside at halftime Friday.

Despite all the hot air from the talking heads, Alabama vs. Georgia was not a play-in game for the NCAA Tournament.

The selection committee members won't play Alabama vs. Georgia in their heads during their deliberations. They'll play Alabama vs. Colorado, Michigan State, etc., etc., etc., based on their entire bodies of work.

The SEC commissioner, the former chairman of that committee, offered one more insight. No matter what the talking heads are saying, the committee members aren't listening.

That was good news for Alabama at that moment, down nine at halftime."

By staying in the moment to the end, Alabama was able to do something more than extend its stay here. It was able to put what should be the finishing touch on its NCAA Tournament resume. After all, the Tide is now 13-4 in the SEC and 5-2 against the SEC East.

YES.

If they are already in the big dance, and I think they are, it wouldn't bother me to see them lose and go home and get some needed rest for the big dance.

Bite your tongue.  Cheesy If we win the SECCG we will really show some promise and get a higher seed. I want that possible 8 or 9 seed for playing.  Cool RTR!

I think a win today would be better than losing and getting rest. I think we are in but it will be a high seed - maybe a play in game. A win today and we improve our seed which will help us make a run in the tournament.
