Here is an earlier story which talks about how Saban "discovered" Cooper at camp and made an offer.  After Saban offered, everyone else had to have him.

What I liked most about his commitment was that he didn't need ESPN and all the news stations making it such a special moment that he commited. That says a lot to me.
