Alabama 24, Arkansas 21. Bobby Petrino's offense hasn't been able to get over the hump against Nick Saban's defense. Until he finally does it, I'll stick with the best unit on the field Saturday: Alabama's defense. Look for another strong game by Alabama running back Eddie Lacy.

Auburn 42, Florida Atlantic 13. Statistically, Auburn has one of the nation's worst defenses and Florida Atlantic has the worst offense. Something must give. This is a get-well game that will only tell us something about the Tigers if they struggle.

East Carolina 37, UAB 10. The Blazers will finally score a touchdown on offense. There's your positive news. East Carolina scored 37 against South Carolina two weeks ago. Imagine what the Pirates could do against UAB, which gave up 49 to Tulane last week at home.

LSU 31, West Virginia 17. LSU's defense faces another unique offense. First it was Oregon and then Mississippi State. Now it's West Virginia, whose inability to run the ball will cause some turnovers in the passing game that LSU will turn into points.

Texas A&M 42, Oklahoma State 31. The Cowboys' offense is rolling with absurd passing and rushing numbers. But Texas A&M has the better defense, the game is in College Station, and Oklahoma State played that ridiculous game in Tulsa last week that didn't end until 3:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Florida State 24, Clemson 16. Whoever puts aside last week's game the best wins. Florida State could be without quarterback E.J. Manuel after he was hurt in the loss to Oklahoma. Clemson is riding the wave of beating Auburn last week. This just in: Auburn's defense isn't Florida State's defense.

and more picks...

I think the Barn will score more as well. Tha Fla St game is a toss up, I took Clemson because that was a big game emotionally for Fla St and they lost.

I expect the Boogers to run up 60 against Florida Atlantic (a team named after an ocean - really?).  As bad as the Booger D is, the FA offense is worse.  60-0?

Georgia 37, Ole Miss 23. Welcome to the so-called "Hot Seat Bowl" between Mark Richt and Houston Nutt. Both of them are under tremendous pressure. Richt needs this one a little more, especially since Georgia has the schedule to still make a run in the SEC East.

This game should be closer, and Ole Miss might win.  I'd like to keep Richt at UGA, but this game could be his coup de grâce.

I feel sure the boogers will score a lot of points but I don't think their defense can slow down a high school team. If I am the FA coach I try to slow the game down and limit the boogers time with the ball and try to make the outcome respectable.

I'd like to see 41-7 in the LSU game. I have 3 kids at this game (6-8 relatives total). One flew in from Baton Rouge. Hate to ruin their day but...their fans are like the barn with the moral victory crap...nip it!

I'd try to beat them.  Pull out all stops.  It might be the only chance during your brief coaching career that you could actually beat an SEC* team.   *

Oh yeah, forgot the LSU connection.  Boy, we're going to have fun in November with that.

Their coach is Howard Schnellenburger. I would not call his career brief. I think he is retiring this year.

Wow, old Howard.  No, he's been there a while.  But at least he hates the Boogers too.

FIFY

and

Without looking it up, I am pretty sure he has 4 rings, 3 with Bama (61, 64, 65) and one at Miami (83).
