"Because we're going to play a lot of good teams and we have to cover a lot of good people, so you have to pay attention to detail and focus on the right stuff. But I am pleased."
One of those good teams will confront Alabama (4-0) on Saturday night when 12th-ranked Florida (4-0) hosts the No. 2-ranked Tide in The Swamp. Aside from the decibel level, Alabama must deal with an opponent that can match with confidence and has two of the top skill-position players, Jeff Demps and Chris Rainey, on any team.
The Gators also have offensive coordinator Charlie Weis to concoct some special plays.
"We're going into their house," said Dre Kirkpatrick, the Tide's standout junior cornerback, who visited Florida on a recruiting trip. "I know what kind of crowd they're going to have there. We just have to go out there and play relentless ball."
Relentless is the apt description for how Alabama has played defense this season. The Tide have allowed just 32 points in four games. They now lead the SEC in all four major defensive categories — scoring defense, total defense, run defense and pass defense.
