Quote
The Tuscaloosa City Council has voted to approve alcohol sales at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Levy Premium Foodservice LP, the concession company that services Alabama football games, submitted the application Tuesday evening, and the seven-member council voted in favor of the license, which now must be approved by the state’s alcoholic beverage control board.

Levy representative Herbert Tesh shared details in front of the council, including that only beer and wine will be offered but no spirits.

Changin'?

We had alcohol in that stadium back in 1969, my first game there.  Nobody even checked us at the gate for it back then.  I lived just a block from the stadium, on 8th Street, and our friends would gather there before each game.  Those who didn't chance carrying in the booze just consumed it before heading to the stadium.

80% of the people in BDS have been enjoying adult beverages when they enter the stadium, so many will not have to bring in their stash anymore.

Did they sell it at the stadium then?

The University sold draft beer in the Ferguson center for a brief time in the 90s.  Not sure who thought that was a bright idea.

A souvenir cup Coke costs $6. You will need to take out a loan to purchase a beer.

Well I couldn't afford the coke. I'd have to drink water. RTR!

Naw, but they didn't sell water back then either.  You could get free water from a garden hose, though.

All that means is that the price they pay to imbibe inside of the stadium just went up considerably.

Also means they’ll crack down even harder on bringing alcohol in - can’t let their $ go to someone else.
