I'm starting to think that either this is for real or that this is one of the most well-organized, most collaborative, most Kingpin-worthy Internet hoaxes ever. The following post is from a poster who has seemed to me to be trustworthy, in spite of his sceen name.

Posts: 90 I took it upon myself to email the attorney Phil Abernathy and ask him myself if the letter is legitimate. This is what I wrote:
There is a letter that is claimed to have come from you. It can be seen at this location:

The best case scenario would be to contact the administrator of that site to let him know in case he needs to remove it. You can also reply to this email as well if you prefer. To contact the site's administrator you can use their contact page at
