He de-committed from Alabama.  Now he's looking for a pacle to play QB.

Quote
When Prattville athlete Justin Thomas de-committed from the Crimson Tide Tuesday, his coaches said he wanted to play quarterback at the collegiate level. Alabama's coaches had him pegged as a defensive back.

Thomas certainly had plenty of success playing quarterback at the high school level, capped by being named the MVP of Prattville's 35-34 win over Hoover in the AHSAA Class 6A state championship game.

Scout has him pegged as WR (5-11 180). Good speed, best in open field.

I posted this, in part, because the Boogers desperately need a running QB.  They are looking for a JC one, but would take JT if given the chance.

definitely not. I watched some of Prattville's games this year and last year. Justin Thomas is not a college QB. His arm strength is avg and his accuracy is terrible. He will not be able to read defenses at the college level. His biggest asset is his speed. This kid can flat out fly, and I hate that he has decommitted. I really thought this kid had a bright future at Bama. He is making a huge mistake and he will regret this later on.

Chechem, He committed to Ga Tech. He wants to play qb. That offense will let him do it. I am not worried about losing him. Next man up.

I was reading the Scout page just now and saw that the column read "Georgia...", and I realized it was GT.  Oops.  At least that makes sense.  I corrected the entries.  Embarrassed

If he's 5'11" and 180, he will have a short career as a running QB in the option at Georgia Tech.

I don't think playing option QB translates well into the next level, so either (a) he isn't dreaming of NFL riches, or (b) he isn't very bright.

MD and CP, you guys are right.  He's doomed at GT as a smallish QB.  He could develop into a shut-down CB in a top defense with his speed, but he's headed for injury and bench at GT.  What a waste.

Maybe someone who he respects will break the news to him.

I believe he is making a mistake because they got Jamal Golden last year. GT made him a DB but I can not understand why they don't line Jamal up at QB.

He will play whatever position they tell him to. I don't know if he can be an ACC quarterback or not? He couldn't in the SEC. JMHO! RTR!

Good idea about making him a CB, I wonder if anyone at GT is thinking that?

 Huh?
