3D anyone?

Anyone watch any college games in 3D?  I know that not many are broadcast in 3D, but the BCS Championship game will be available in 3D this year.  I also noticed that LG 3D TVs are priced very competitively through amazon.com (the same price as non 3D versions at the major electronics stores.)  And, my wife has been after me to get a flat screen for the past couple of years, instead of the CRT TV we currently watch (the TV has a great picture, it just takes up a lot of space). 

Unfortunately, going to the game is not an option for me this year as I have work commitments.  So is 3D the next best thing, or should I aim for something else to enhance viewing pleasure?

You'd have to wear 3D glasses every time you watch your tv in 3D, and anyone who has a lazy eye, a glass eye, or anything similar can never watch your tv.  This may sound silly, but I have a mild mis-alignment of the eyes, and can't watch anything in 3D.  It sucks.

I can't remember where I saw it, but I remember something about a 3D TV that does not require the glasses. You can probably Google it and find that info.

I don't know much about anything new in 3D technology but I have never seen one that is good. I went to a 3D IMAX movie not long ago and it was not as good as the regulatr IMAX movies which I think are great quality. I will have to see a lot of improvement before I will consider a 3D TV.

There are active and passive 3D TVs.  The active ones require expensive glasses.  The passive ones, like the LG I am eyeing, use the same glasses you get for 3D movies in the theaters.  I suspect you are correct about a TV that does not require glasses at all.  My son's Nintendo DS 3D has games that are 3D, but that is the video game programming and probably different than the 3D signal used by ESPN3D.
