High School Basketball Playoffs

The high school playoffs are in progress. The Regionals are this week which is the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 rounds for each class division.

Austin won yesterday to advance to the region finals. If they win Friday against Hazel Green we move on to the Final Four. I'm pretty excited about it. We are playing in the Northwest Region at Wallce Junior College near Cullman. Austin is a good basketball school. They were ranked #6 in the last regular season poll. We make a deep run in the playoffs nearly every year. We made the final four in 2006 and 2007.

Austin gets great fan support for all their programs. Check out the crowd at yesterday's game.

Austin and Decatur high schools are friendly rivals. At big basketball games Austin makes a big sign to roll out over the student section to support the team. Decatur always tries to steal the sign. In 2008 Austin placed the sign in a place so it could be found. Decatur stole it and rolled it out over their student section before the game. The sign said WE SUCK. The youtube video is below.

The colors are orange and black. We look just like Hoover. Hoover stole it from us.
