Yes, Alabama beat Miami 79-64 to advance to the NIT semifinals in Madison Square Garden. The celebration went like this:

Thanks, #.

Maybe going to the NCAA would have helped us as much, but winning these 3 games and going to NY is a real boost to this program.  This NIT run has allowed the team much-needed extra practice and experience.  I'm not sure that one and done (very possible) in the NCAA would have helped much at all.  This team keeps improving, and has used this time to become a real strong competitor now.  We'll find out at Madison Square Garden if the shooting on the road has improved, but I'm guessing it has.

RTR.  Congratulations to the team and Coach Grant.

What a wonderful feeling it was as the game was ending last night.  Bama basketball was back and to hear the crowd in that frenzy was very special because it was only two years ago that we were begging for a new coach.

Thank you NCAA, for making all of this possible.

I agree.  This way we get to have our cake and eat it too.  They get all of the positives from doing well in the NIT, plus they still get to have that NCAA chip on their shoulder so that they will come back hungry and focused next year.  There is no way they are going to allow those early season games to get away from them next year.

I agree.  The tourney would have been nice and we are always capable of making a run, but playing at home, drawing a one seed, and getting some more focused national attention (both for being left out of the tourney and making a good run in the NIT) have all helped us much more in recruiting, experience, and national image than playing in the first 1 to 2 rounds of the NCAAs would have.

The Buffs will be a good indicator of where we would have stood in the Big Dance as they were right there with as a team that had a strong argument to make it in on the bubble.
