In the wake of Mariano Rivera's potentially career-ending ACL injury, the New York Yankees have turned to Alabama native and Crimson Tide product David Robertson as their new closer.
Robertson, who entered the game with "Sweet Home Alabama" playing, managed to get out of a bases-loaded jam Tuesday night against Tampa Bay for his first career save as a closer. The final out was recorded when he struck out Carlos Pena for the 5-3 win.
Yankees manager Joe Girardi said Robertson solidified his spot as the team's closer for the season after the win, according to ESPN.
