Alabama hopes to take bite out of Big Apple

NEW YORK — Spotting the outsiders was a cinch among the lunchtime crowd at Baruch College on Monday afternoon.

Dressed in crimson sweats, headphones over ears, the Alabama basketball team traversed and the bustling midtown Manhattan crowd took notice. Then, down four flights of stairs, the Crimson Tide found a small underground gym where the real work began.

Just 24 hours before meeting one the nation’s most explosive offenses, coach Anthony Grant had one final opportunity to install the game plan. By 8:30 p.m. today, his team will be six avenues over and nine streets uptown at the sport’s most recognizable address.

The NIT semifinal meeting with Colorado pits the 11th-best scoring offense (80.1 points per game) against the Tide’s eighth-ranked scoring defense (59.2 ppg)...FULL ARTICLE HERE

There is a bit of a difference in scoring 83 a game in the MWC and scoring 80+ a game in the Big 12.  We'll have our work cut out for us tonight.

The Buffs were another tournament worthy team that just missed the cut.  Should be a great game and the first real measure to get a better feel for how we would have done against NCAA tourney competition.

Yeah. We are not in CC any longer. But that should not affect our defensive performance.

Yes, our defense should be solid.  They will be lucky to see 70.  The question in my mind is will we be able to get to 70 away from CC?
