A month after guiding his women's golf team to its first national championship, Alabama's Mic Potter has been named the national coach of the year by Golfweek.
In addition, three members of the team earned first-team All-America recognition from Golfweek: senior Brooke Pancake, junior Jennifer Kirby and sophomore Stephanie Meadow.
Four members of the Alabama men's golf team that was the runner-up at the NCAA Championships earlier this month also have earned All-America recognition.
Freshman Justin Thomas was a first-team selection by both Golfweek and the team released by PING and the National Golf Coaches Association.
Sophomore Cory Whitsett was a second-team choice by both Golfweek and PING.
Sophomore Bobby Wyatt was named a second-team All-American by Golfweek and a third-team choice by PING.
Senior Hunter Hamrick became a three-time All-American after Golfweek placed him on its honorable mention team.
This was a great year for Alabama golf. It may never be better than this. The women win the NC and the men come in 2nd losing to Texas on the final shot of the final hole. Congrats to Mic Potter and Jay Seawell on great coaching jobs this year. We will be seeing many former Alabama golfers on TV on the PGA and LPGA for years to come.
