There's now a defined favorite in the race to land Derrick Henry, the highly touted running back prospect from Yulee, Fla., who de-committed from Georgia last month.

"Alabama is my leader!" Henry tweeted Monday.

Quote
Henry (6-3, 241), is rated as a four-star prospect by Rivals.com, and Rivals and 247Sports both consider him the No. 1 athlete prospect in the country. Scout.com rates Henry as a five-star prospect and the No. 5 running back in the nation.

Excuse me if I'm cautious about a de-commitment from UGA.

Hmm.  Looks like he's saying the right things.  I'm sure CNS will take a hard look before signing him.

Wow, just a few days ago he was quoted as saying:
Quote
“Pray for Crowell instead of bashing him. Because everyone wasn’t raised the same nor made .. So everyone should just pray he sees a better way.”

I was wondering if he'd stay with UGA now that Crowell is gone, but it seems not.

Hope Tox is right.  This quote about CNS seemed lukewarm:
Quote
Henry said UGA’s Mark Richt and Tennessee’s Derek Dooley were the easiest coaches to talk to, while Alabama’s Nick Saban is not as easy. “[Saban] cracks jokes. At the same time, he’s always serious. I don’t ever laugh, even if he’s laughing or not … I’m not intimidated. I just respect what he’s done. I just try to listen to everything and try to be serious. It’s just respect out for him.”

In many cases with these young men, talk is cheap when they are discussing all the schools that are recruiting them as far as who the leader for him might be and how he would fit in at that school. Henry made one statement of he isn't worried about who Bama already has as running backs and the recruits that are coming in, he likes the competition. I like to hear players talk like this but I don't like to hear players toot their own horn and in this case is he tooting his own horn about how good he is.

Hopefully he is serious about his statements and is working toward his enrollment at Bama.

Except for a couple of running around in circle plays, he looks good. Explosive and fast.

I would be more impressed with him if he would do like our recent QB commitment from Georgia, he canceled all of his future visits and said Bama is where I will play my football. Wink

I know, it's frustrating.  But it sounds like he felt pressured to commit to UGA, and now he wants to clear his head and think it through.  Clearly he doesn't know what he wants.

These kids are pressured to commit early and in many cases they have no idea if they have made the correct choice. Last year we got TJ Yelton to flip. He had been committed to the barn for about 1 year.

I don't like the "soft commitment" stuff. You should be fully committed or just said you are still looking to make sure you make the right choice. I also know the coaches put a lot of pressure on these kids telling them they only have 25 slots and they are filling up fast, we may not have room for you later, etc.
