Good article and interesting.

Chizik played high and mighty during his two years in Ames. He constantly talked values, commitment, and integrity. He had bibles on his desk. He insisted on a team Chaplain.

Chizik did nothing to me. He was the kind of guy you could interview 50 times and feel like you didn't know him at all. Not the real him. In that way, he reminded me of Steve Alford. Alford could forget he met you, 10 minutes after meeting you.

However, many of us were unimpressed with Chizik the coach. The Cyclones were undisciplined, the sideline chaotic, and Iowa State found ways to lose games it should have won. It would have gotten better, but Chizik realized he was in over his head long before Auburn threw him a lifeline.

When current Iowa State coach Paul Rhoads got the job the first thing he said was the team did not know how to tackle. The barn has the same problem now. They are a poor tackling team. Chizik can blame it on Ted Roof or the new guy but he is a defensive coach. He should be able to take control of the defense and shore it up if he is the coach he claims to be. Tubberville's players are gone and Chizik and his staff can not "coach up" the raw talant to make them SEC caliber players.

I have always doubted the defensive prowess of Chiznik & Muschamp as great defensive coordinators under Tuberville. Tuberville was the defensive whiz of the team, like Saban at Alabama. Chiznik has been living off that for about 8 or 10 years now, but it is all finally catching up to him.

It seems Cheezedip is a person that always has plenty of folks around him to use for all of his failures. I hope Auburn keeps him for at least another 5 years, I find him very entertaining.
