Premature?  Sure.  But after last week, there's a need for speed.

I have talked to two sources in the past 24 hours who have told me there is a lot of back channel negotiations between Arkansas Alumni and Charlie Strong at the moment. It appears the Razorbacks could offer as much as $4M per year. ...

Not if you watched the ULM game.
John L. Smith is temporary -regardless of what his 10-month contract says.

Wait a minute. He looked no different than Bobby Bowden and Paterno did their last 15 years of being head coach. Even looked like Gene did when Gus was there. Grin

THAT'S ONE THEY MAY WELL THINK OVER CAREFULLY...NEVER JUMP THE GUN, AND HIRE AN UNPROVEN COACH..HE HAS NOT BEEN AT THE HELM LONG ENOUGH TO GET THAT JOB.THEY HAVE THE TALENT, AND DEPTH THERE TO HIRE A GREAT PROVEN COACH FROM OTHER PLACES..THEY DO NOT WANT TO END UP LIKE ND, WASHINGTON ETC..AND HIRE A PROVEN LOSER.

It will be interesting to see how Louisville does this year. Strong was born and raised in Arkansas, so he would be the dream candidate for their program. If Louisville does good this year, he would definitely be their first choice. Arkansas does not want to be a relay station for a coach who wants to leave if he has a very good year.

This is an important year for Gus Malzahn at Arkansas State. If he has a good year by Arkansas State standards he could be a canidate for the barn and Arkansas jobs.

Auburn knows they lost when they let Gus get away. It seems to bring him back as their HC would be good for them. Arkansas is not so lucky. Even Charlie is a good coach but a Head Coach in the SEC has to be somewhat smart to just step in with the big boys. JMHO. RTR!

I personally think he would be a good hire for ArKansas.  He would likely do well there, again just my .02

I'd support Gus at Aubland or at Arky.  Both will continue as bottom-feeding sauger on defense with him at the helm.
