The 2012 Alabama baseball team recruiting class was tabbed as the fourth ranked class in the nation, as announced by Baseball America on Thursday. It's the second top 20 ranking for the Crimson Tide this season, after UA's class was selected 16th by Collegiate Baseball last month. The Tide welcomed 11 signees for the upcoming season that includes 10 freshmen and one junior college transfer for the upcoming season.

Lord knows we need some talent in the worst way. I want to see out program going back to the College World Series & winning the SEC Tourney.

I hope those freshman are are talented enough to make a difference the first year. Last year was pretty embarrassing.

We had a good class come in last year but you can not count on a freshman class to be the heart and sole of the team. We have have a few good upper classmen and a solid sophomore class coming back. This freshmen class may be able to fill in a few missing pieces and get our program back on track.

CMG has done a good job recruiting the last two years. Now he has to prove he can develop players and be a good game day coach. Just making the SEC Tourney and a 3rd seed in the NCAA is not good enough. We need to be playing for SEC titles and hosting NCAA Tournament Regionals as the No. 1 seed.

The SEC had 13 of the top 25 recruiting classes. Only Ole Miss did not may it. If you can compete in the SEC you can compete for national titles.

Shocked WOW...that's pretty darn impressive...the SEC should dominate College Baseball the same way they do in Football.  Wink

The SEC is the best conference for baseball in the country, but it does not get a lot of recognition for that. They are mad at us for the football dominance of the conference.

I hope we can find:

A catcher with good enough arm to throw out a base stealer.

Some bull pen arms which can hold a lead

Some power at the plate.  I believe Kayla Hunt hit more home runs than the entire baseball team.

Bama needs some pitching in the worst possible way.  They never seemed to  close out those games in the late innings.

I agree with your comments.

One thing I noticed in the bio's of each of the recruits was several of them had good size. I have been saying for several years our players look little. We have had a lot of 5-10 175 lb guys. I believe a 6-0 200 lb guy has a better chance to hit for power.

We had some good freshmen pitchers last year. We need another group like that. We should be able to find someone who can hold a late inning lead.

We need a good strong arm catcher that also swings a good bat and has the smarts to help the pitchers.

I am hopeful we will put a much better team on the field this spring.

I hope we have the coaches that can get them to playing at a higher level.

CMG appears to be able to recruit well. Coaching them up may be something else entirely, we'll see. If the relief pitching and some power can come together this year, they may just put together a good season.

I wonder how CMG's recruiting suddenly improved to Top 5? What are the selling points he is emphasizing as opposed to other years? Perhaps early playing time but as a general rule, elite players feel that they will always earn a spot in the line-up.  Perhaps the "championship swagger" is spreading through the portals of BDS.
