The slumping Tampa Bay slugger informed Major League Baseball that he would retire rather than face a 100-game suspension. Ramirez served a 50-game ban for violating the drug policy in 2009, and second-time offenders get double that penalty.

I had the chance to attend his first game back after the 2009 suspension.  I chose not to attend, but friends who were there said he got a heroes welcome.  Maybe if the fans hadn't been quite so forgiving he would have learned a lesson then.

I was too.  I am a huge Dodgers fan.  It was great to see him at his best..but he sure pissed me off when he got busted.
