TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The third-ranked Alabama women's golf team was awarded a No. 1 seed at the 2011 NCAA East Regional at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla., the NCAA announced Monday afternoon.
The NCAA East Regional will be held on May 5-7 at the 6,271-yard, par-72 LPGA International and hosted by Stetson University. It is the sixth straight invitation to postseason competition for the Crimson Tide, who finished third at last season's NCAA Championship.
The top-eight finishers at the NCAA East Regional will advance to the NCAA Championships at the Traditions Club on May 18-21 in Bryan, Texas, host by Texas A&M. Alabama won the Fall Preview back in September at the Traditions Club with a 15-under-par total of 849 to edge LSU by one stroke and Southern California by seven.
Since Potter's arrival at the Capstone prior to the 2005-06 season, the Crimson Tide has qualified for the NCAA tournament each season and advanced to the NCAA Championships five consecutive years. The 2011 selection is the 13th NCAA appearance in school history
