Jay Jacobs told the Associated Press that “technically it’s still an open issue,” but he also said that nothing has changed since NCAA president Mark Emmert said “there was no evidence that Auburn University has anything to do with” Newton’s father asking Mississippi State alums for cash. Indeed, Roe Lack also said that there is no evidence that money changed hands between anyone, only that Cecil Newton solicited cash… and that was from MSU boosters.
My understanding is that the above referenced NCAA ruling on Cam's eligibility was based solely upon arguments presented by AU. The NCAA did no investigation. This indicates that since that time, there HAS been and still is an ongoing investigation. Burn
