Tide's Nathan Kilcrease named the SEC Pitcher of the Week

With a five-hit complete game Friday, senior right-hander Nathan Kilcrease not only pitched Alabama into the Southeastern Conference Tournament, he earned recognition as the SEC's Pitcher of the Week.

Earlier today, Alabama coach Mitch Gaspard announced that Kilcrease will be the seventh-seeded Crimson Tide's starter in the opening game of the tournament against second-seeded Arkansas at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Regions Park in Hoover. Junior left-hander Adam Morgan will start Thursday for the Crimson Tide.

Kilcrease (6-4) struck out five and walked three, and the only run he allowed was unearned in a 2-1 victory over second-ranked South Carolina, the defending national champion.

I am concerned we will not have a good crowd there on a Wednesday morning start. I would rather have a night game with a rowdy crowd.

Arkansas will not start their ace against Alabama in the SEC Tournament. He pitched twice over the weekend against Ole Miss. Good news for Bama.
