This is a year old article but I thought it was interesting. Bama is No. 5 on this list and the first SEC team.

South Carolina made the list but the barn did not. Wouldn't that be embarrassing.

The popularity of the Alabama Crimson Tide is hard to exaggerate. According to Forbes, the team’s “waiting list to obtain season tickets for the Crimson Tide is currently 15,210 names long.” Furthermore, simply being next up on the list is no guarantee of getting tickets. The only thing coming up on the list entitles you to do is “make a donation to the athletic department ranging from $5,000 to $500,000″ depending on the location of seats you wish to buy tickets for. Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban is the fourth highest paid coach in college football, raking in about $3.9 million per season.

I think the waiting list may be longer now. A lot of the added seats were for students.

I really have a hard time figuring out how Notre Dame, Penn State, & Nebraska can be more valuable than Alabama. Alabama has a stadium of 101,000 & ND has 80,000. Is Notre Dame gouging their fans and alumn that bad? Same goes for Penn State & Nebraska. Plus, when's the last time any of these teams had a REALLY big season. I just don't get it.

I would have changed the order listed. No way you put ND 2nd. Article is from Jan. 2010. Since then Alabama athletic budget has grown and is now second behind only Texas. I feel the same as you do about Penn. State, Notre Dame, and Nebraska. Penn. State does have a stadium that sits 107,000 fans.

Last time they had big seasons:

Nebraska was last team to win back to back NCs during mid 1990s. Penn State last won titles in 1986 and 1982. Notre Dame last won a title in 1988.

I still think a great coach with great recruiting can win at those schools. Just my opinion, Bo Pelini is not Osborne, jury is still out on Kelly, and Joe Pa. will have to retire before Penn State is back. FSU under Fisher look like they might contend.

Auburn didn't make the list because they have subtracted the money that they paid their players....
