Some Interesting Info About the MLB Draft and the State of Alabama

I was checking out MLB.com and found why the South dominates baseball. The number of players drafted in the MLB Draft from the following states:


New York (pop. 19 mil)- 40 players drafted
Ohio (pop. 11.5 mil)- 33
Michigan (pop. 10 mil)- 26
Tennessee (pop. 6.3 mil)- 68
Alabama (pop. 4.7 mil)- 47
Georgia (pop. 9.8 mil)- 76

No doubt about where the baseball talent is at. I've attached the link if you want to research your baseball team and see who they drafted. Also, you can check your favorite college to see who they had drafted. I noticed that out of the first 7 picks by the Braves, they picked 4 pitchers. That's been their bread & butter for 20 years.

We had a 4 out of Dothan drafted. One was Hoke Granger, 3rd round / 47th pick to Houston.

High School and college baseball has always been dominated by Southern and West Coast programs. The northern teams are at a disadvantage because of their late start due to weather. Thats the same reason the pros go to Florida or Arizona for spring training.
