Good article from TideSports about the status of the Bama baseball program.
"Dugas is our biggest recruit right now," Gaspard said, looking out over a desk littered with notes on high school and junior college prospects that he and the coaching staff will visit with over the coming weeks.
That's where things get sticky.
While Gaspard juggles next year's recruiting class, he must also keep an eye on the one he has showing up a few months from now for the first day of practice. Signees William Kamplain and Taylor Guilbeau were both taken in last month's MLB Draft by the St. Louis Cardinals and the New York Yankees, respectively. They both began summer school this week and look to be set on playing for Alabama, according to Gaspard.
Ian Gardeck, who began the year as the No. 1 junior college prospect in America, signed with Alabama and is pitching in the Cape Cod League this summer. The 6-foot-2 righty with a mid-90s fastball went in the eighth round to the Chicago White Sox. Right now, Gaspard and Gardeck speak on a regular basis. Whether he signs with the White Sox will likely drag out until the end of the month.
