Paul Jones was one of the top recruits in Penn State's 2010 recruiting class and was expected to compete for the starting quarterback job for the Nittany Lions this fall. Well, thanks to his grades, the Penn State quarterback derby is now a two-horse race.

According to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette Jones is going to miss the 2011 season thanks to some academic problems.

This is good news for us, but also good new in general.  I'm glad at least one DIV 1 school challenges students academically.  Kudos.

If Penn St provides, and I'm sure they do, the classroom support for the players as Bama does, it's hard to figure how any of them could be academically inelgible unless they just don't care.

Academics seem to get a lot of the top notch recruits. Does this mean they are just a bunch of tough heads with them being empty at same times. How can a player that can't pass academics learn the tough systems of college football? RTR!
