The University of Alabama men’s basketball team will face a challenging non-conference schedule in addition to the traditional Southeastern Conference slate, head coach Anthony Grant announced Thursday.

Fifteen home dates, plus a contest in Birmingham, Ala., highlight a schedule that features at least 15 contests against teams that finished 2010-11 ranked in the top 100 of the RPI.

“This is as strong of a non-conference schedule as Alabama has faced in recent years,” Grant said. “We’ll face a Final Four team in VCU, NCAA Tournament teams in Oakland, Georgetown, Kansas State and programs such as Dayton and Oklahoma State that advanced to the NIT. Plus there are seven other very good programs we could potentially face in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off.”

One thing for sure; if they win most of those games, they'll get a bid.  Tough pre-conference schedule.

Hopefully Bama can get off to a better start than last year.

Wow, that is impressive. If we can win most (I hope all of course) of those, that will be a BIG help for our tourney hopes.

Yep, games against solid teams like Maryland, Ga. Tech, Georgetown, Colorado, Kansas St., maybe Purdue (in Puerto Rico if they both win other games), Dayton, & Oklahoma St. I would have like to seen at least one REALLY good team scheduled like, Ohio State, Texas, Kansas, West Virginia, UCLA, Arizona, etc.

Maybe we can get in a throw-down with Georgetown.

We'll need a Chinese player to make it real.  Any of our players have a Chinese brother?

This reminds me of Coach Sanderson days when we played tough teams and won those games. We will do good this year I think. RTR!
