Interesting article from a Gamecock site, kinda like Bama On-Line.

Quote
The truth of the matter is, this is not a good team right now, and they haven't shown me any evidence that they will be at any point this year barring a major change. Let me say this: I believe Steve Spurrier is a great coach. He is a legend in this game who has had an incredible amount of success. But at this point in time, he's clearly at the twilight of his career.

Quote
I'll give you an example. We here at this site, and other sites, have been honest in our assessment of the team. When they've been good, we've applauded them. When they've been bad, we've examined what went wrong - without pulling punches. Why? Because we want this team to be good, just like you. But some of you - not all of you - feel that this team is excused from any criticism whatsoever: "We just need to believe in them!" "You must be Clemson fans!" "Stop being so negative!" "They don't have guys like (insert high-level Carolina recruit here)."

Same type of stuff being written about coach Saban.  I have more important things to worry about than whether SOS or CNS are going to retire/get fired/quit...

A major Bama site or magazine is saying Saban is over-the-hill and/or should retire? Which one?

 Huh?

Big difference from having a "national" writer saying stuff & your own team/fan based website or magazine. It's like bamamag or bama on-line saying Saban needs to retire.

I don't think Sabna needs to retire i do think he needs to reevaluate some of his coaches. I for one do not know coach Williams personally but from watching the special teams play it seems something is wrong. We have all this speed of supersonic and #1 recruits but we are getting beat by mistakes or whatever reason, if they can not be coached then what do you do? RTR!

I don't know that I would put those two fumbles on the kickoff on CBW.  It was Drake and Stewart who fumbled the ball.  They are both skill guys and practice ball security throughout practice with their position group.  I would say that if any coach is responsible it would be their position coach.  But I know they have emphasized ball security for a while now so I am going to put those two squarely on the 2 players.  They know better.

The specialists (punter, kicker) have their own private coach.  I don't think anyone on staff works with them directly.

CBW is responsible for coverage and returns and making sure the other 10 players do their assignments correctly.  Now, we've had some problems in those areas from time to time and those issues are on him.

That's my take on it any way.

Ricky you made a good point in the other thread about putting the guy that fumbles on the bench.  So I will add to me previous post and say that what ever coach is deciding to put those guys back there to return kicks should bear some responsibility for the fumbles.  I don't know if that is CBW or CNS though.

You know SC the only excuse I have ever found for fumbling is if th opposing player has the fortune of the Helmet on the ball thing then I can possibly understand a fumble. I have to say other than that, I am still as you said not sure which coach is responsible but I call out CBW because he is our special teams coach. RTR!
