SB Nation stats wizard Bill Connelly has reviewed the data and concluded that "The Bama Effect" may very well be real. The Bama Effect is the notion that playing the Crimson Tide takes so much out of you that you play very poorly the following week.
I am a firm believer this is so and it happens almost every year that a highly ranked team will play Bama and lose their game the next weekend.. I read an article the other day stating that teams would be better off taking their bye week after the Bama game rather than before because they usually lose their next game because of the physicality of the game.
... and then pollsters say, "See, Alabama beat a team that wasn't as good as we thought." Really stupid, because it's a different team. This year UGA played us with Chubb, then he was injured and they were crap. Happens every year!
