It wasn't the game that we all expected and wanted to see but as some said, it was a win.
You could definitely see the "holiday effect" on the team but Jacksonville State played their heart out and almost won the game. I think Bama gains more than a win out of this game, they had to reach inside of themselves and find a will to win and they did. They could very easily have done what the team had been doing the past few years, lose.
It was another close game but with each of these close games, regardless of the opponent, there is something that can be learned and I think this team is learning, faster than what some may want to believe. As it was said in the Karate Kid movie, "patience Grasshopper", and that is exactly the mood that I am trying to stay in this year. This team has a lot of energy and a will to win, plus a very good coach and staff and that's something us fans haven't seen in a very long time wouldn't you say.
I guess the "holiday effect" didn't happen to JSU. What bothers me is that JSU is a lousy team (4-11), it's tallest starter was 6'7". This is a big concern with the SEC season around the corner. This game is definitely a wake-up call for Bama & I bet CAJ will approach it that way.
