Central Michigan may have made the play of the year to beat Okie State.
Especially considering it shouldn't count.
Strange rule in that situation. Okie State was penalized on 4th down. It was a loss of down penalty, but Okie State didn't have a down to lose. I think the rule was intended to prevent the offense from getting another play, but a technical reading of the rule would have resulted in game over.
Officials might revisit this rule in the offseason. I don't think an offense should be allowed to commit an infraction on 4th down to win a game. So I applaud the result, and Okie State's loss. Their tears are music to these ears.
