I'm sure Jason Stidham will follow in the footsteps of Heisman winner Jeremy Johnson as QB and win the Heisman, too.

Quote
Computers are high on Auburn.

Fans are high on Auburn after watching Jarrett Stidham throw pass after pass down the field Saturday at the A-Day scrimmage.

A few ESPN writers, however, are not completely sold on Gus Malzahn's Tigers being a top 5 team heading into the 2017 season.

In response to the ESPN's own Football Power Index ratings placing Auburn at No. 5 in the country heading into the offseason, ESPN's SEC writers were asked to name the most overrated team in the SEC.

That team was, by most accounts (three out of four), Auburn.

It is almost a guarantee when the press is high on the barn , They will take a nose dive like no other.

Remember when the barn won the Natty, then commenced to implode....yep

Remember Jeremy J? that was a real wow...lol

I think they will be competitive but their D will take a step backwards this year so the O will be ok but the D back to trash.

Agreed.  I love it when the Barn gets a lot of pre-season hype, because that is almost always a guarantee of a down year for them, with predictable fan implosion.  Grin

I have not seen any of these people. I do know that every year the media wants auburn to be the one that challenges us for some reason but it just doesn't happen. Without the kick return we would have a run of defeats on them that would be great. We just have to keep beating them into submission and let the media keep their lovely hearts broke. RTR!

Their 2nd game is at Clemson. Good test even without Watson. Later, they play LSU, Arkansas, & Texas A&M all in-a-row on the road, then UGA at home. Tough rode for them. They lost their 2 best pass rushers who accounted for 14 of the team's 25 sacks. Auburn was 7th in SEC in sacks. Of course, they will have the Heisman winner, Stidham, at QB.

Every year since Malzahn has been there he has named his QB early in the spring. I wonder if he does that with other positions as well. Positions battles during spring that carry over to fall camp are healthy. It makes players work harder to get better. They work on their own all summer knowing they have to be sharp the day fall camp starts.

With their schedule I think 9-3 is the best they could do with a low of 5-7. If I had to guess it will be somewhere in between at 6-6 or 7-5.

Malzahn has a secure job until he loses his first game. He not only has to have a decent record he needs to beat UGA and/or Bama.

One more loss to Bama and they'll be calling for his head.

They seem to understand we are very good and hard to beat. They do not like it but they know we have something special going on. The losses to UGA get under their skin. UGA has a 9-2 record over them. One of those wins was a miracle Hail Mary. UGA has just been average during that span.
