My 9th grade English teacher made us read the Hobbit.  I enjoyed it so I read the trilogy over the next summer.  I didn't think the movies could possibly live up to the books, so I didn't bother going to see them.

The movies were awesome. Peter Jackson did a fantastic job staying true to the original content. You should really check the movies out. They are long, but well worth the time. They are my favorite movies.
