I got to thinking during the night after the football award show and then got mad!!!!

 Angry Angry Angry

Alabama has this kickass football team. who just barely got beat by a kickass LSU football team.

Alabama has all these All American players and LSU has all these All Americans players.

Then all week long all we hear is about how OKSU has this kickass football who should be playing LSU for the title of the best kickass football team instead of Alabama.

Then last night only two OKSU players, Blackmon and Adcock are named All-Americans.

Alabama had Six players earn Walter Camp All-America Honors. I felt like some of the Alabama defensive players, Hightower and Barron,  should have won more awards.

Hightower and Barron have both played 4 years of championship football for Alabama.

I think the sports writers had no problem with an Alabama - LSU rematch. They just knew OKSU would lose to Oklahoma last Saturday night.

I thought the same.

Then for the first time in 8 years OKSU beats Okla.homa

Sportswriters changed their votes trying to get OKSU in the BCS NCG. The coaches didn't change enough of their votes to change the outcome of the BCS selection.

OKlahoma was a terrible football team. They lost 3 of their last 6 games.
Sportswriters have SEC fatigue because of the the last 5 years of domination by the conference.

MFBATR was front runer for the Heisman after the Iron Bowl.

Sportswriters has Alabama football fatigue as well, dropped their ssupport for MFBATR for the Heisman and RGIII gained their support for the Heisman.

That's how I viewed things over the past week.

If OKSU was this kickass football team, then they were have dominated the awards show with more players not just 2!

No Alabama and LSU dominated the awards shows.

Also Lombardi award is a shame.

Upshaw or Hightower are more deserving linebackers. JMHO!

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WALA) - The Alabama football team was heavily represented on the Walter Camp All-America Teams, which was announced Thursday. The Crimson Tide had four players earn first team honors while an additional two garnered second team accolades. The six selections were the most of any program.

On the first team offense was junior running back Trent Richardson and junior offensive lineman Barrett Jones. On the defensive side was junior linebacker Dont’a Hightower and senior safety Mark Barron. Senior center William Vlachos and senior linebacker Courtney Upshaw earned second team honors.

Richardson, a native of Pensacola, Fla., is fifth in the nation in rushing yards per game, averaging 131.92, and has scored 23 touchdowns this season, ranking him fifth in scoring at 11.5 points per game. This season, Richardson set the Alabama record for rushing touchdowns in a season with 20. That number also ties him for second most in a season in SEC history.

Jones, a native of Germantown, Tenn., anchors the Alabama offensive line from his left tackle position. He has started 35 career games, including 10 at left tackle in 2011. He has also helped the Tide rank 15th nationally and first in the SEC in rushing (219.83), while blocking for the league's No. 2 scoring offense at 36.0 points per game.

Hightower, a native of Lewisburg, Tenn., is a fourth-year junior for the Crimson Tide. He has started 41-career games and leads Alabama with a career-high 81 tackles in 2011. Hightower has 9.5 tackles for loss (-35 yards) this season with three sacks (-16 yards), one interception, eight quarterback hurries, a blocked field goal and three pass breakups.

I'm trying to be grateful for the awards received, but I can't help wondering why others didn't win too.

Hightower and Upshaw likely split so many votes that neither could win.  I'll bet their votes combined would have been a winner.

Barron is understandable.  Claiborne is a true talent who excelled in big games.  No problem with him, just that I wish Barron had won something too.  His paycheck in the NFL will ease the pain.

They had to give Les the top-coach award.  What a year they had against a tough schedule.  CNS will be tops in everyone's opinion after the BCSNC.  Smiley

#17 for LSU Claiborne is a beast for sure. Key reason LSU won in T-Town his pick.

They did that all year (timely picks, fumbles forced).  Great, opportunistic defense.  The rematch will be a Bama win if we eliminate turnovers, but that will be tough.  I expect both offenses to be more potent this time, take more chances, and put up more points (lots of fresh legs and lots of time to design new schemes).

Lack of awards = Fuel for the NC fire.
