Stunning: Oregon’s Darron Thomas to pursue NFL dreams

Wow. That’s about all you can say.

I can’t imagine too many people felt that when quarterback Darron Thomas led Oregon to a 45-38 win over Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl that it would be the last game the junior would play for the Ducks. However, according to Oregon’s SID Andy McNamara, Thomas has indeed decided to pass up another year with UO and try his luck in the 2012 draft.

Thomas will join Ducks running back LaMichael James in the draft, but this move is far, far more unexpected than the one James made just a week ago.

Did anyone mention to him that no one runs the spread in the NFL? He can't possibly believe he can play QB in the NFL. This makes no sense. I wonder if there are sanctions coming for Oregon and he is getting out.

There is more people coming out early than ever before I think. Just something to think about will there come a day when there will be no Srs. on a football team? RTR!

I don't know what this kid is thinking. He is AT BEST a 4/5th round pick unless he does some incredible things in the NFL Combine.

I bet he goes undrafted. Some team will pick him up as a free agent but it is going to be hard for him to make a team. Maybe the CFL could use someone with his skills.

Article doesn't say whether he has selected an agent yet. It wouldn't surprise me if tests the waters a little and finds out he is better off staying in Eugene.
