Even if Alabama had won Saturday at Ole Miss, it would be the No. 5 seed this week in the SEC tournament in New Orleans.

The Crimson Tide (20-10, 9-7 in the SEC) would have finished in a four-way tie for second place in the regular season, but it would have finished last in the tiebreaker, and it still would not have gotten a first-round bye.

How is the tiebreaker determined? If Bama had won, their conference record would have been the same as UT's and Bama won head to head with them. Bama also had an overall better record than UT. I know it's water under the bridge, but I don't see how Bama wouldn't have been a 4th seed had they beat Ole Miss.

I think Tennessee had to lose, which is what any decent team would have done!  Banging your head against the wall.

I wouldn't say the team has less momentum, they've been this way all year and you never know which team is going to show up. Maybe the A team will show up for the SEC tournament and they could make a good run at it, you never know about this team.

Had Bama won, there would have been a 4-way tie (Vandy, TN, Florida and Bama), so the head-to-head tiebreaker with TN would not be used.  Instead, the team's record against the other three teams is used, I believe, and TN owned the TB with Florida and Vandy, and Florida and Vandy both beat Bama.

I think the TIde will have tremendous momentum. They get to take revenge on USC, then face Florida and give them some payback. Plus, the Tide can help itself even more for the NCAA Tourney as far as seeding. Grant has to have the team ready, which would be easier if Lacey, Greene, Releford, & Steele are 100%.

Yeah, I see your point now, CP. I was thinking UF and Vandy had better conf. records than UT.

The best we can hope for is to get as much Tourney experience as possible, preparing for next year. If we are one (NCAA Tourney) and done we would've been better off in the NIT again.
