Report: Penn State officials may have tried to conceal Sandusky child abuse

While opening arguments are under way in the child sexual assault trial against former Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky, NBC News is reporting that unnamed sources tell them top school officials could face more charges for allegedly concealing what they knew about Sandusky's suspected conduct.

"Internal e-mails and documents they say show former President Graham Spanier and others discussed whether they needed to tell authorities about a 2001 allegation involving a late-night encounter between a naked Sandusky and a young boy in the Penn State shower room. The sources say documents show Penn State even did legal research on the issue. But in one e-mail exchange, two sources say, Spanier and former vice president Gary Schultz agreed it would be 'humane' to Sandusky not to inform social services and the incident never got reported

Well yea they tried to cover it up and so did the authorities IMO.  When it all started I heard them talking on finebaum about a DEA or something that was working the case in the early 2000s that came up missing and he has NEVER been found.  My theory is it only got brought back up as a tool to finally run ole joe pa out of town since his old ass obviously wasn't going anywhere on his own.  They could fire him for cause over something like this so it got brought back to life and turned in to something.

Why am I not surprised to read something like this now, I had so much respect for their program. It is just sickening to try to understand that this actually happened.

It's much more humane to allow a child molester to get away with raping and molesting children than dare to take on one of Paterno's coaches and embarass him and the university. When we first had a thread on this situation months ago, I said then it was only going to get worse and sleazier. This demonstrates the total moral failure of Penn State and the administrators to do the right thing. I hope all these cowardly bas***ds do jail time.

At the very least they should have told him to get off the campus and never come back. At first I thought they did not turn him in trying to protect Penn States reputation. But they did absolutely nothing. By allowing him full access to all facilities and letting him continue with Second Mile Foundation is aiding and abetting IMO.

I read where after they forced him out in 1999, they (Penn State) signed a contract which allowed Sandusky complete access to Penn St. and its facilities. I think this is another example of the influence of Paterno that Sandusky was forced out due to his interactions with kids, but he still got a sweetheart agreement from the university which allowed him on the campus.
