Shaun takes you back to his first career start, against BYU in 1998...

My favorite will be against LSU in 1996 (as the 3rd string RB). A friend of mine went to church with Shaun in T-town and said he told him that he didn't think he would play and stayed up until 3am playing Bill Walsh College football.

if anyone wants to see it ,
it's a year after not winning a home game at BDS
to #37 and the new "Air Bama" vs. BYG .. the game in it's entirety

I'm watching it now. LOL--Bama starts off with 7:30 drive for TD. A couple BYU plays and Bama ball again-- TD. How demoralizing is that!

#37 was one of the all time great RBs at Alabama.  I remember the LSU game in 96, and wondered why it was 2 more years before we saw him start.  When he finally got his chance, he was a game changer.   Great blocking by the OL too, especially CS.

Shaun Alexander is one of my all time favorite players. He was a sure 1st round draft pick after his junior year but he came back for his senior. He said he enjoyed his college experience too much to miss his senior year so he came back. That was one of the most unselfish things I have seen a player do.

Check out this highlight reel.

SA was a horse. He also played very well in the NFL with the Seahawks before suffering the injury that shortened his career. He will always be one of my favorites. He was definitely fun to watch.

I bet Shaun, being the humble guy he is, would be quick you to tell you Chris Samuels opened up some huge holes for him to run through.
