Click here for linkOne week after pledging his commitment to the Crimson Tide, Marietta, Georgia quarterback Parker McLeod headed to Las Vegas to compete in a regional event for the Elite 11 quarterback competition, and he shined early among the dozens of competitors at the camp.
While McLeod didn't make the finals of the event, he was named among the top ten performers at the camp by 247Sports recruiting analyst JC Shurburtt, who noted that "Arm strength and a quick release stand out about McLeod when you watch him throw."
The 6-foot-3, 190-pound signal caller told CBS Sports that he wasn't satisfied with his performance but felt the competition was a good experience overall.
McLeod also talked with CBS Sports about the moment he told his mother, an Auburn graduate, that he had made the decision to commit to Alabama.
"Yeah," he said with a laugh, "she didn't really give them the benefit of the doubt. She always loved Auburn and wasn't too sure about it at first. But once she got over there, she really like it too and she's comfortable with my decision."
Unlike another mother we had witness to.
