Good tee shots.  #500 (Troy Kelly) in the fairway.  #250 (Ted Potter, Jr.) whacked it a mighty blow, but it was a good 20 yards short of #500.

In the mid 80's the company I worked for did a big renovation project at the VA Hospital in Beckley, WV. I was the onsite Project Manager so I lived there for about 6 months. The people were great. Very friendly and the guys we hired locally were good workers. I have fond memories of the place. I stayed at a Days Inn out by the Interstate for about 2 months. The VA Administrator found out I was staying in a hotel and he got me a small rental home at Glade Springs Resort which was just outside of Beckley. It was really nice. I guess it is still there. At the time it was a very nice golf and tennis club in the summer and a ski resort in the winter. It was cheaper than staying at the hotel.

#250 going for the green on the 2nd shot.  But he may be in the bunker; nope, just short.

#500 going for it too.  An eagle would likely win it.  He's 300 yards out, but winds up and whacks it with an iron.  Oops, in the bunker.

Both have bad lies for their 3rd shots.  Yikes.

Probably a bad fairway and poorly maintained bunker.

Potter with a great chip to within 4' for birdie.  That may be a winner.

Kelly from the bunker.  This MUST be close for a chance..................
NOooooooooooooooooooooo.  He didn't even get it to the green.

Looks like Potter will win!

Back to the 18th hole (par 3).

Kelly is first to hit.  He puts it short, and he must putt over a ridge.

Potter has the door open (again).  He lines it up, wipes his brow, pushes away his lady friend (and her low-cut blouse), and swings.  He's only 3' from the hole.  His lady claps wildly.

Don't come here merely to take advantage of us but my high school buddy and I are always looking for someone to gamble and golf with. We don't play much (15 months for me) so if you spot Harold and I a couple of strokes...

Harold and his mom.

Ted Potter, Jr. wins after 3 playoff holes. Both "kids" played well under the pressure. Big storm overhead,--any takers on the above?

Yes I play golf. I don't play as much as I used to. I play more on business trips these days.

I would like that. North Alabama has some good courses. Let me know when you are coming this way.

I have never been to Glade Springs but know others that speak well of it. I know they are a choice location for meetings, conventions, tournaments, and other events. I think the place has improved steadily, even since you were there. There is Stonewall  Jackson Park in the north on I-79 and then Glade Springs on the southern end of the state (I-64 & I-77/79). I would like to go see sometime.
