My Father grew up in Harlan, KY. He was walking home from school one day when he saw a man shot to death on a swinging foot bridge. Seems one man would not yield to the other.

Wow.  Check out Justified.  It comes on FX and just ended its 3rd season.  The US Marshall who is the main character grew up in Harlan.  He's stationed out of Lexington, but they always send him to clean up the hillbilly mafia type mess in Harlan cause he knows the people.

LOL. I didn't know it got into all that. There was a time when organizing was necessary but the quickly began biting the hand that fed them. When I was growing up, violent mine strikes lasted much too long. The benefits gained by striking never made up for the missed months of work. Now, even in Southern WV non-union mines are operating, but not without violence. Steel balls shot through windsheilds, houses burned, etc.
