He was deployed to Afghanistan on Sunday; died Wednesday.

Tragic. So young. Wasn't there a week.

The impact here is we knew them as something other than plastic army men we move around on the desert game board. We need to remember that every one of them is a person with value, close human bonds to family and friends, and hopes for a long and fulfilling life. Every one is a tragic loss.

I heard recently that there may be a proposal to take medical benefits away from those serving in the military, they say these people went there by choice and they should be treated like anyone on anyother job. How sick is our country becoming? Prayers for his family and all of the others that are serving our country.

We lost a good friend in Afghanistan 3yrs. ago to an IED in the green zone. He was a Lt. Colonel in the Army. Riding in the Humvee with him was Lt. who had recently graduated from West Point and a Staff Sgt. All had families back home. I didn't know the other two but my friend was one of the nicest people you could ever meet. He is buried at Ft. Sam.

People that gave their lives for the very freedom we are celebrating this week, should never be forgotten. Every one of them is a tragic loss and we, as a a nation, need to remember to thank them all for what they have sacrificed, ensuring the freedom we enjoy.
